Hold onto life
Poetry is a medium that I have only recently began to write in, largely for personal reasons. I have found that the abstract nature of it challenging but rewarding. The variety of means for self expression available pushes me to think in ways that I usually wouldn't, helping me improve my ability to communicate more abstract ideas and themes.
The future is gone, and yet still we march on
The dreams we may have held were taken away, we do not hope, we do not pray
There are countless finish lines that won’t be crossed, countless dreams that stay shrouded in the night
For many this is enough to kill their hope, they lay down as far as they can go, they no longer put up any fight
And yet don’t they still carry on, in their own way, aren’t they like those who chase their dreams just as strong
To wake and wake and wake, to walk in the light, to see another night, to breath air and to eat, to hold back defeat
To live is to dream, there are none bigger than others, our dreams are all equal, for we are all dreamers together
No dream lasts forever, they all die eventually, as so do we
we cannot take them with us
but they keep good company
